Ari and mummy

Ari's favourite thing at the moment is...

Dancing around the lounge room, singing and pretending to play the drums to the first two tracks from the Band of Horses album, Cease to Begin.

First gig

Ari attended his first gig on Saturday. Well, his first gig out of the womb (he did hear lots of live shows in utero, including Jurassic 5 and Elvis Costello when I was quite, quite pregnant).
He saw Ryan Sterling, a fabulous Melbourne musician, at the La Terra Acoutstic Festival in Collingwood. A small disclosure - Ryan is also Ari's uncle (check him out at http://www.myspace.com/ryansterlingmusic)
It was lovely to be able take him a daytime show. I've often wondered why no one has offered rock music for little people - there are baby discos, baby symphony performances, baby yoga classes and baby music lessons.
When we recently went to the Big Day Out, part of our day was spent feeling a little bit guilty because a lot of Ari's favourite bands were playing - he would have absolutely loved dancing to Battles or seeing the Arcade Fire perform. But the music is too loud and the day too long for a little boy - it will be a few more years until he can go to a proper music festival.
Unless of course our dream comes true and the Arcade Fire come back to Australia and play a daytime show for kids.
